The Virgin Mary

The Virgin Mary story
My name is Amelia Alvarez; I am 16 years old living in Mexico City. Today is the day we celebrate The Assumption of Mary. Catholic Churches in Mexico celebrate The Assumption of Mary to honor the belief of the Virgin Mary's departure from earth to heaven. Today in my church we are having a feast to celebrate the death of our savior's mother and how she dies and goes straight to the heavens.
My abuela Carmen has a bad case of leukemia that she's been fighting for many years now. It was like a cold that comes back and forth when it wants, and she has to deal with it. She just turned 76 years old and has become so weak. For the past 3 years she hasn't been able to celebrate this holiday like she wanted to. The doctors say the way her illness is she can die any day, so I want to make sure she celebrates this holiday one last time. While I was at church today before the whole celebration, I asked my priest more about why we celebrate this day and who Mary was.
The virgin Mary represents the mother of Jesus.  She is not to be worshiped, revered in any way or sought to bring healing.  Jesus is the great Physician, he is the only mediator between God and man and Him only should be worshiped. Those who pray to Mary or through the saints are in error as it is contrary to New Testament teachings.
I went home before the ceremony and abuela wasn't even home. I was so confused as to where she went. I asked my cousin Maria, and she said she didn't know. Abuela didn't have a phone to call her so that didn't help. I was nervous and trying so hard not to panic. I went to her room to possibly find her there, yet she wasn't. I saw a note on her dresser. It was from abuela.
My heart dropped and my eyes went wide. I ran out of the room and told Maria to watch her brother, while I was gone. I ran to the Médica Sur Lomas hospital to see if abuela was still there.
As soon as I got into the hospital I asked the lady at the counter if Carmen Alvarez was signed in. As soon as the lady searched her name she had me wait until a doctor showed up to get me. I was so scared that I didn't care to wait so I ran into the emergency room seeing if she was in there.
I heard crying in one of the rooms and followed the cry until I found the room. It was a young woman crying for a nurse.
"Mama, can you please do me a huge favor?"
I didn't know what to say, so I said, "yes, anything you need"
"I need a nurse. My blood is draining quickly and I need one of the nurses" she said in pain.
Her name was Thalia Molina, and she had a severe cut on the right side of her rib. So now I have to worry about Thalia and my Abuela. I stopped in the middle of the hall to think. I found a nurse to tell her. We ran back to Thalia's room to help out I watched the bite take care of Thalia and I was so glad to help. I asked the nurse if she'd seen a patient named Carmen Alvarez. She looked at me with a sad look. She told me where abuela was and I ran as fast as I could to find her. Thalia waved.
As I was running around the halls I accidentally bumped into a girl that looked like she was 16 also. I apologized. She told me that her name was Mary and her mother was here because she broke her leg. She offered to come with me to find abuela in one of these rooms. We reached the end of the hall and we finally found her in a bed. I started to tear up because i was so glad to see her.
“Mamá ¿por qué estás aquí " I said crying.
"Baby girl it's time for me to go I don't want to be in pain anymore" She said to me.
"I can't lose you mama I just can't", trying so hard to not bail out and cry.
"I love you baby girl and I expect you to do good" Abuela said tearing up.
I didn't know what do but cry my eyes out. Mary was hugging me so tight to support me. Then the next thing I know all I heard was from abuela was:
"I love you Amaila so much" Her last words to me.
Abuela died minutes later as I sat and watched. As soon as I found a nurse we ran back to abuela's room. We came back to find that she was gone. My eyes popped wide in shock. My abuela's body was gone from the bed. The sunshine beamed through the window where abuela's bed was. For some reason I felt like it was a sign. I met a girl name Mary on the day of the assumption of the Virgin Mary. I feel as if God did the same thing to Abuela like he did to the Virgin Mary and brought her straight to heaven. Mary stayed with me with support while all this was running through my head.
A few minutes later we met up with Mary's mother Amber who just got her cast on. I told her about Abuela and she felt so bad for me. She took me in and took care of me like I was her own. Mary and I became sisters and I was glad I met her. Sadly Maria and Richey ended up going back with their parents house to live with them. I felt so alone. I felt like I didn't have none of my family now, but if it wasn't for for Amber taking me in I would have probably been abandoned with no one.
A few years have passed since Abuela died. I graduated high school and plan on going to a college in Florida somewhere. Every day I felt Abuela sneaking up on me to remind me that she is watching me. She throws me signs that she's here. She drops my pillows or just touches me with very cold air. I miss her so much.
